Guido Martinetti, born in 1974 in Turin, studied Viticulture and Oenology at the Faculty of Agriculture at his hometown’s university before completing a Master’s degree in Quality Viticulture Management at the University of Milan.

After internships at Piedmontese and French wineries, he created his first wine, Georgette. However, he became widely known for co-founding Grom in 2003 with his business partner Federico Grom. The artisanal gelato brand became a global success, and by 2015, when it was sold to Unilever, it had grown to over 90 stores worldwide (in Italy, Japan, France, the UK, the USA, Dubai, Qatar, and Hong Kong) and employed over 1,000 people during the summer season, including 500 year-round employees.

In 2008, long before the sale of Grom, Martinetti and Grom founded Mura Mura, an organic farm in Montegrosso d’Asti, dedicated to producing the fruit for Grom’s sorbets. By 2017, Martinetti shifted his focus entirely to high-quality winemaking, acquiring the Valfieri brand and the license to produce Barolo and Barbaresco.

By 2022, Mura Mura began receiving prestigious accolades, including recognition from Decanter, La Guida dei Vini di Veronelli, and Doctor Wine by Daniele Cernilli. The Club Oenologique named it one of Barbaresco’s five "rising stars," while James Suckling awarded its Barbaresco wines (Starderi, Faset, Serragrilli) ratings between 93 and 95 points.

In February 2023, Martinetti opened Relais Le Marne in Costigliole d’Asti, just steps from Mura Mura. Nestled among vineyards and serene landscapes, the boutique hotel features two restored farmhouses with 13 rooms, each dedicated to the poetry of great Piedmontese authors and the works of eight contemporary artists. Designed in collaboration with leading Italian designers and master woodworkers, the artistic retreat also houses Radici, a vineyard restaurant located within the estate’s historic 1878 wine cellar, forming the heart of the Dimora degli Artisti at Relais Le Marne.
