Right after Chicago (7-8 October) and before Boston (13 October), Eataly Flatiron, in Manhattan, will once again host Identità New York (10-12 October), the mother of all our events in the United States, now in its eighth edition.
While in Illinois the focus will be on pasta and pizza, in the Atlantic megalopolis there’s a different score: «We start from the theme of the last edition, ‘Don’t waste the planet’», explains Paolo Marchi, «which is always current given the new policies in the US, looking for the best in terms of debate, new ideas, solidarity. But we will develop this enriching it with a further sub-theme, ‘the truth in the dish’ because the foundations of intellectual work and research find their ultimate reason, their real value at the moment of service».
The protagonists are of the highest standards, starting from Massimo Bottura, the only one to have participated in 8 events out of 8 in the shade of Flatiron, an epic during which he held lectures with world cuisine giants such as Daniel Humm and Alain Ducasse.

Massimo Bottura and Eric Ripert
This year (Thursday 12th October, at 1 pm) French
Eric Ripert will join him. The chef is leaving a significant mark in the future of New York’s fine dining with his
Le Bernardin, 4 stars for the New York Times, 3 for the American edition of the Michelin guide and 17th place in the
World’s 50Best (read his complete
biography).
Beside them (Tuesday 10, at 6 pm) another group of giants: the chef at number one in the
50Best LatinAmerica, Peruvian
Virgilio Martinez, debuting in New York next to
Bobo Cerea from
Da Vittorio, 3 more Michelin stars to add to the New York team, here in the role of ambassador of
East Lombardy – European Region of Gastronomy 2017.
But before everyone else (Tuesday 10, at 1 pm) there will be two leading actresses: the best female chef in the world according to the
World’s 50Best, Slovenian
Ana Roš (restaurant
Hisa Franko in Kobarid) and Calabrian
Caterina Ceraudo (
Dattilo in Strongoli, Calabria), best Italian female chef according to the 2017 edition of Michelin Italia. «Male and female chefs from distant countries», points out Marchi, «so as to further increase the standard of the international debate».

Ana Ros and Caterina Ceraudo
Like last year,
Identità New York will include the
Dine Around in Store event on Wednesday 11th October, an itinerant dinner in the various restaurants of Eataly Flatiron, each marked by a speciality from a different chef: pizza from
Corrado Scaglione of
Enosteria Lipen (Triuggio in Brianza), after Chicago, a vegetal dish by
Bottura himself, seafood by
Martinez, pasta by
Caterina Ceraudo, a main course by
Ana Roš, and dessert by
Bobo Cerea. A guaranteed joy.
Tickets for the masterclasses and dinner can be bought
online.
